China Rehabilitation Research Center for Hearing and Speech Impairment

China Rehabilitation Research Center for Hearing and Speech Impairment (formally named as China Rehabilitation Research Center for Deaf Children, hereinafter referred to as“CRRCHSI”) affiliated to China Disabled Persons' Federation , was established in 1983. It is the only hearing and speech rehabilitation institution at national level, serving as technical resource and advisoring center in the field of hearing and speech rehabilitation. CRRCHSI is the WHO Collaborating Center for Prevention and Rehabilitation of Hearing Impairment and the Hearing International National (CHINA) Center (HI-IFOS-ISA).

Over the past thirty years since the establishment, CRRCHSI has made remarkable contribution to improving rehabilitation of hearing disabled persons, facilitating development of national hearing and speech rehabilitation. The center also assisted the relevant government departments to formulate the national five-year plan for hearing and speech rehabilitation and helped hundreds of thousands hearing-impaired children to achieve or partially achieve hearing and speech recovery. In addition, CRRCHSI promoted the establishment of hearing and speech rehabilitation institutions at provincial, prefecture and county levels, collaborated with relevant universities initiating discipline and diplomatic education on hearing and speech rehabilitation. For many years, we have provided professional development and continuing education opportunities for staff working at grass-root level hearing and speech rehabilitation, promoted integration of hearing-aid fitting consultant, auditory- verbal therapist as new job category into the national occupational directory. As a national center, CRRCHSI has been playing a leading role in the development of national hearing and speech rehabilitation technology, conducting scientific research, established and enriched the methods, technology, related services and criteria of rehabilitation industry on hearing disabled children in China.

In September 2016, approved by the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform, CRRCDC officially changed its name from “China rehabilitation research center for deaf children” to “China Rehabilitation Research Center for Hearing and Speech Impairment”. After the renaming, it will play an important role in various aspects, such as development of nationwide hearing and speech rehabilitation technology, industry guidance, advancing national prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment, performing the functions of the WHO collaborating center and carrying out prevention and rehabilitation of hearing and speech impairment.

? Missions

Missions of China Rehabilitation Research Center for Hearing and Speech Impairment

1. To provide prevention and rehabilitation service of hearing and speech impairment nationwide;

2. To conduct scientific research and provide training to professionals in the field of hearing and speech rehabilitation;

3. To assist national relevant departments to formulate the policies, regulations and standards of hearing and speech rehabilitation;

4. To assist national relevant departments to formulate and implement national development plan of hearing and speech rehabilitation;

5. To provide industry guidance for nationwide hearing and speech rehabilitation;

6. To organize National Ear Care Day and other publicity activities;

7. To undertake the role of WHO collaborating center for prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment, and carry out international exchanges and cooperation.

? Leadership

Deming KONG, male, Han ethnicity, was born in Wu'an, Hebei Province. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 2002 and began to work in July 1991. He graduated from the school of adult education of Beijing Business University with a bachelor's degree in economics. He is currently secretary of the party committee, deputy director and chairman of the Labor union of CRRCHSI. He presided over the overall work and responsible for the party building work of CRRCHSI.
Wei LIANG, male, Han ethnicity, was born in Tongzhou, Beijing. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1991 and began to work in July 1992 He graduated from Beijing Normal University with a bachelor's degree in preschool education. He is a researcher and vice chairman of the hearing and speech rehabilitation professional committee of China Association of Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, part-time professor of speech and hearing science research institute of East China Normal University and language rehabilitation institute of Beijing Language and Culture University. He is currently the deputy secretary of thp Party committee, deputy director and vice chairman of the labor union of CRRCHSI.
Lei ZHAO, female, Han ethnicity, was born in Suixi, Anhui Province, she joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in December 1983 and began to work in December 1976. and She is a senior human resource manager. She is currently the Deputy Secretary of the Party committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and deputy director of CRRCHSI.
Dongmei ZHANG, female, Han ethnicity, was born in Beijing. She joined the Communist of China (CPC) in February 1991 and began to work in September 1988. She has a postgraduate degree in the Party School of Central Committee of CPC. She is currently the deputy director of CRRCHSI.
